Brian Long '12, Bonner Leader

About Brian: Brian Long works with the Service-Learning Program at CSB/SJU. During the summer of 2009, Brian was selected to be a participant in the Marie and Robert Jackson Fellows Program, a program that gives nine CSB/SJU students the opportunity to do civic engagement work for ten weeks (fourty hours a week) during the summer at the non profit of their choice. For the fellowship, Brian worked at the Minnesota AIDS Project in Minneapolis, Minnesota. This year, Brian plans to volunteer with SouthSide Boys & Girls Club (through the Fast Forward Youth Program), the St. Cloud Hospital, and do additonal Bonner and Service-Learning work.

About Matia: Matia Twedt is a recent graduate of Cathedral High School in St. Cloud, Minnesota. Matia plans on majoring in Psychology. Her background in service includes volunteering for food shelves, participating in food drives, volunteering at her church, and participating in the Special Olympics Program. Matia is excited to be part of Bonner because it will allow her to help others and share her abilities, and develop long-term, professional relationships with the site she serves at.

Andrew Ruiz '13, Bonner Leader

About Andrew: Andrew Ruiz comes to Minnesota from Los Angeles, California. Andrew loves to play sports and work with kids. Last summer, He worked at a summer day camp in California tutoring kids, as well as taking part in physical activities with them. Andrew wanted to be a Bonner because it is a great way for him to become involved in a new community and work with children.

Galen Himrich '13, Bonner Leader

About Galen: Galen Himrich comes to Minnesota from Custer, South Dakota. She enjoys hanging out with her friends, staying active, and reading. Her previous service experience include remodeling a house and yard for a paraplegic person, local political canvassing, organizing a YMCA rummage sale, helping with youth soccer and golf camps, and various church activities. Galen wanted to be in the Bonner Program because she did not want a job working in a kitchen or store; she wants to be in the community making a difference.

Kody Williams '13, Bonner Leader

About Kody: Kody is from St. Paul, Minnesota. He enjoys playing Ultimate Frisbee and Disk Gold. His previous service experience include a service trip to San Felix, Venezuela where he helped a parish center; tutoring at the St. Peter Claver Grade School in St. Paul; working on a team for Habitat for Humanity; and participated in the Relay for Life for three years. Kody joined Bonner because it will be a great experience and something he will enjoy being a part of.

Mary Erickson '13, Bonner Leader

About Mary: Mary enjoys watching movies and hanging out with friends. She was involved with her high school's Key Club - a service-oriented club where that focuses on various projects such as Habitat for Humanity. Mary also worked on the Obama campaign during the fall of 2008. Mary is excited to be a Bonner because it is a great opportunity to get involved with CSB/SJU and the community.

Maria Greenwood-Sanchez

About Maria: In high school, Maria was accepted in the National Honors Society where she did a lot of volunteer work - she participated in Habitat for Humanity, raised money for a family for Christmas, and raised money for other charities, too. Maria also served at her church since she was in fourth grade, and helped with church and school festivals. Maria wanted to become a Bonner because it will give her an opportunity to help people in the community and form a strong foundation for everyone to grow in the community.
